"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him." Matthew 2:1

Merry Christmas!š š The King has been born, hallelujah!
Today we are going to talk about worshipping Jesus as King vs the "casual" Jesus our American culture portrays. "If you were going to an appointment with a king, how would your approach compare to how you enter God's House Sunday mornings? Would you show up early? Would you scroll on your phone? Would you honor the king's authority and listen/obey what he says?" - Pastor Marty
During the holiday season we recognize and celebrate Jesus as a baby, but do we truly reverence His authority as King?
The Wise Men
I love how Pastor Marty describes the wise men's approach to worshipping Jesus. These were intelligent, high class men, yet they humbled themselves, traveling a long distance to worship a baby. Think about that. These men were valued as the know-it-alls in society, yet they seemed to understand that there was someone GREATER who had been born.
Realizing these important facts, it's amazing to see the wise men's perspective toward Jesus. "They approached Him not as a baby but as a King!" - Pastor Marty
Can we say the same thing?
Approach to Worship
"Approach to worship has become too casual nowadays," Pastor Marty expressed and I truly believe it. We don't fear God like we should, honoring Him for who He truly is - a King who was born a babe.
This holiday season I want us to think of Jesus not as a poor baby in a manger, but as the King of Kings. As we honor and worship Him this Christmas, let's not make his birth, existence, or even sacrifice on the cross too casual. Let's honor and exalt Him for the true Lord He is.
Next Steps:
Ask God to help you see Jesus as a King and not as a poor baby.
Worship and honor Him as a respected Man who paid a price we so deserve.
Take time to prepare your hearts and enter His House in reverence and worship.
Bring an offering to the Lord - the wise men brought gifts and sacrificed their treasures for Jesus. What are we sacrificing and bringing to Him as a freewill offering and act of worship?
