"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:18-19
How has your spring been? Productive? Lazy? Inconsistent?
This summer let's set ourselves up for success! God wants you to have a productive and effective summer.
Think: Who do you want to be when fall hits?
What daily habits do you want to develop?
Where do you want to be in your relationship with God by the end of August?
These questions are going to fuel our goal-making decisions, and I want to help you successfully achieve your desires for the summer. So let's get started!
First let's be clear, when I talk about goals, I am mainly referring to GOOD, HEALTHY, and LIFE-GIVING HABITS. We don't want to focus on the beach body or rock-hard abs. We want to focus on the habits that give us a more fulfilling, less stressful, and prosperous life.
Our focus while setting and obtaining these goals:
Consistency
Growth and improvement in our character, self-image, the way we see others, confidence in ourselves, and mindset
Enjoyment
Discipline
Often we think discipline = legalism when really good, healthy disciplines help us mature and grow as disciples of Christ.
Quick Tips:
Pray to succeed in all these goals.
Also, if you want to focus heavily on 3 goals and put 4 of the others as secondary then go for it! Whatever helps you and sets you up to succeed is the route you need to take.
Here are the 7 types of goals I want you to set this summer:
1. Faith
Brainstorming Stage:
Where is your and God's relationship currently and where do you want it to be by August?
What do you want to grow in/learn more about with God this summer?
Tip: Pray about what God wants to teach you this summer
What do you struggle with (prayer, compassion, faith, fasting, worship, love, trust, etc.) that you want to overcome/defeat?
Planning Stage:
What do you need to start doing today to help you reach this goal by the end of summer?
What weekly, monthly, and even daily tasks and objectives need to be scheduled?
What do you need to accomplish by July 4th (halfway checkpoint), so you can finish your goal without feeling overwhelmed or rushed?
2. Family
Brainstorming Stage:
Do you genuinely love your family members (Romans 12:9-21) and walk out 1 Corinthians 13 with all of them? (Are you patient, kind, not rude, not boastful, and hope for the best in them?)
How can you show better honor towards them, especially the ones that you don't get along or agree with?
Which family members need prayer and scripture declarations spoken over them?
Tip: Pray about who God wants you to pray for
Is there anyone you need to forgive, apologize, or encourage?
Who do you need to be more intentional with and make time for?
(Examples: physically spend time together, call, text, facetime, etc.)
3. Friends
Brainstorming Stage:
Do you have a Godly community?
Are you genuinely loving your friends for who they are, not who you think they need to be, even those you don't get along with?
Which friend(s) need encouragement?
Tip: Pray about who God wants you to encourage
Ways to encourage: write letters, text, call, and physically show them you care through physical touch, listening, quality time, gifts, and/or words of affirmation
Do you know your friends' love languages and how can you show them you love, value, and appreciate them through their specific love language?
Tip: Have them take the FREE online 5-love language quiz
Planning Stage:
What do you need to start doing today to help you reach this goal by the end of summer?
What weekly, monthly, and even daily tasks and objectives need to be scheduled?
What do you need to accomplish by July 4th (halfway checkpoint), so you can finish your goal without feeling overwhelmed or rushed?
4. Finances
Brainstorming Stage:
Debt: How can you lower your debt intake?
Tip: What lifestyle changes need to be made (sell stuff, get a side hustle, stop eating out, stop shopping, etc.)?
Giving: Are you being generous with your money? (Open hand mentality)
Tip: Ask God to help you give more and change your heart.
Also, look up scripture about giving and taking care of the weak, less than, poor, and vulnerable, and how God views that.
Saving/Budgeting: Are you being intentional with the money God has blessed you with?
Tip: Create a short-term savings goal to achieve by the end of the summer
BIG TIPS:
INVITE GOD IN YOUR FINANCES
Let Him dream with you and pray about what you should focus on (saving for what, paying off debt, etc.) in this season of your life.
Pray over your finances and how you're stewarding it
Have you asked God to bless your money or are you trying to do it all on your own?
Remember, our goal is consistency and discipline so if you know your management of money is not good, pray for Him to help you with that BEFORE you pray for Him to bless you.
5. Fun
Brainstorming Stage:
Are you respecting yourself, your future, and eternity with your hobbies?
Pray about the hobby/activity before you do it.
Tip: Remember, God created fun, but not everything "fun" in this world honors and glorifies Him.
Are you listening to the Woman of Folly more than the Woman of Wisdom and opening doors for the enemy to influence your life?
Tip: Does the hobby/activity bring life (positive, growing, impact that makes you a better person mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually) or death (negative, backsliding, defeating impact that makes you a worse person mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually)?
Godly Options for Entertainment & Fun:
Pureflix - streaming service
Muscis like Toby Mac, Anne Wilson, etc.
Sports, games, and movies that do not idolize/exalt themselves as higher than Christ or include witchcraft
Tip: Research the activity before watching it and what Scripture defines as idolatry and witchcraft.

What weekly, monthly, and even daily tasks and objectives need to be scheduled?
What do you need to accomplish by July 4th (halfway checkpoint), so you can finish your goal without feeling overwhelmed or rushed?
6. Fitness
Brainstorming Stage:
Are you taking care of our temples (bodies), both food, body, and mind, in a positive way?
Tip: Undereating is just as unhealthy as overeating.
Are you intentional with the type of food we eat?
Tip: Meal prep
What habits do you want to develop (eating, working out, and mindset), by the end of the summer?
Pray for God to help you set these goals

7. Field (Job)
Brainstorming Stage:
Are you where God wants you to be?
Tip: If you're struggling to know what God has called you to do/where He wants you to work, 1. Pray about it, and 2. Read the Dream Giver, which helps you discover calls calling on your life.
Are you giving your all in your job? (Trying your best and giving 100%).
Tip: Remember, we will give an account for our lives and who knows if God will judge us based on our faith in Him through our work.
What is your attitude towards people, work, projects, etc., and what needs to change to help you have a better one?
Tip: BE A LIGHT, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house." Matthew 5:14-15
